A CENTURY OF INNOVATION: THE FIRST REAL ESTATE CATALOG

As we celebrate 100 years of United Country Real Estate, we’re looking back at the groundbreaking innovations that shaped our success.

In 1928, founder Roscoe Chamberlain revolutionized real estate marketing by unveiling the first-ever real estate catalog—a bold step that provided nationwide exposure for rural and lifestyle properties. This was the first time real estate was advertised across state lines, and the catalog was so innovative that it is now housed in the Smithsonian.

That very first United Country catalog led to the sale of a 160-acre Missouri farm—including an eight-room home, three horses, three cows, and all equipment—for just $1,750 to an out-of-state buyer!

Today, the UC Catalog remains a powerful and unique marketing tool, continuing Chamberlain’s vision of connecting buyers and sellers across the country.
